Alice M. Lowell

April 12, 1935 - January 26, 2021

Alice M. Lowell, age 85, of Gloversville, left to join the lord on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville with her loving family at her side. She was born on April 12, 1935 in Broadalbin to the late Austin Thornton and Ruth Lee Thornton. Alice was a graduate of Broadalbin High School. Throughout her life she was employed at Decca/MCA Records, Crescent Leather, and General Electric. She most enjoyed working with her hands and designing florals at The Woodland Shop until her retirement. She was a member of the Senior Centers in Gloversville, Johnstown, and Broadalbin. For over 20 years, Alice enjoyed being the Queen Bee and socializing with her friends of the local Red Hats Organization. She enjoyed nature, gardening, watching and feeding the birds and chipmunks and playing cards. She is survived by one son Daryl (Kim) Stewart, one daughter Deborah (Joseph) Mongato, one brother Bernard Thornton, two sisters Marge Gunderson and Jane Gregg, six grandchildren Damon (Ashley) Stewart Jr., Jamie Stewart, Eric Stewart, Alissa (Christopher) Malloy, Jillian Mongato (Nicholas Fenton), Monica Loux (Josh Guisti) and cousin Susan Kazlauskas, nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her husband Henry (Hank) Lowell who she married on July 5, 1984, and who passed on March 29, 2014. She was also predeceased by a son Damon Stewart. There will be no services or calling hours. Interment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery next to her beloved husband Henry. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alice's memory may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, New York, 12078. Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G.
