Daniel M. Sweet

May 30, 1956 - March 15, 2022

Daniel Martin Sweet, age 65, passed away at Albany Medical Center on March 15, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Born on May 30, 1956, he was the son to the late Dorothy and Edward Sweet in Gloversville, NY. Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Irene Sweet, who he celebrated 29 years of marriage with on March 6th. He spoiled and loved her unconditionally for over 35 years. Daniel is also survived by his daughters - Dorothy Summerlin (Jeffrey) and Sandra Hart (Kristian) and sons - Ronald Hart Jr. (Tammy/Jacquelyn), Christopher Hart (Candy), and Joseph Hart (Renee). He also loved all of his siblings including - sisters Rosemary Wager (Milton), Robin Jaquay (Paul), Amy McGuire (Ray), Beckey Jones (Ron), Wendy Stewart (predeceased Mike), and brothers Joseph Sweet (Linda) and David Sweet (Rita). He was predeceased by his sisters - Lena Loux, Donna Lane and Linda Williams. Daniel was the best paw paw, poppy and pa to all of his grandchildren - Matthew Summerlin, Stacie Summerlin, Dolores Summerlin, Christopher Summerlin (Virginia), Brooke Grace (Rusty), Kelsey Hart, Carrissa Hart (Mason), Ronnie Hart, Madelyn Hart, Brittany Morgan (Cody), Christopher Hart Jr.(Kayla), Brian Hart (Justina), Andrew Hart, Joslynn Christiano (Roger) and Devan Hart. He was predeceased by his grandson - Jeffrey Summerlin Jr. Daniel is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Daniel earned many certificates as a New York State inspector, auto and diesel mechanic, and a truck driver. He retired from SLA Transport of Gloversville, NY. Daniel was an avid fisherman and hunter. He even loved to tip back a Gennesee every now and then. He loved the outdoors, especially camping with his beautiful wife, family and friends. He was always on the move and loved puttering around the house and back dooryard. He also enjoyed the Christmas season and turning his home into a winter wonderland while spreading Christmas cheer. Daniel was always willing to help out his friends and family. He was a man who put others before himself, who would drop anything to help out his family and friends. Daniel was always willing to just sit and listen without judgement. He was loved by everyone he met. He had the biggest heart. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Daniel’s memory may be made to the national multiple sclerosis society.
