Dorothy (Ma Blah) A. Blowers, age 90, of Caroga Lake passed away peacefully on September 10, 2021, with her loving and devoted children by her side. Born July 25, 1931, she is the daughter of the late Modesto and Mary (Giannuzzi) Pisani. Dottie was a graduate of North High School and St. Joseph’s School Nursing School in Syracuse. Dottie was a dedicated career nurse who worked at St. Claire’s Hospital in Schenectady and later retired from Wheelerville Union Free School in Caroga Lake after 22 years of service as the school nurse/secretary. She was of the Catholic faith, a communicant of St. Barbara’s chapel in Caroga Lake and the former Immaculate Conception Church. Dottie was a lifetime member of Wheelerville PTO and a member of the Nick Stoner Senior Citizens. She volunteered countless hours to The Red Cross, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and The Fulton County Youth Board. She was an Election Inspector (School & General) and a three-time winner of the “Friends For Education” award from Wheelerville. In 2015, Dottie was honored with the Outstanding Senior Citizen of Fulton County Award. Dottie’s hobbies included sports (Yankees, Giants & Syracuse Orange), bowling, reading, arts & crafts, knitting and baking “Green Cookies & Easter Pies”. For years, she has cherished being a Pen pal to countless students from Wheelerville whom many she kept in contact with for years later. But her BIGGEST hobby was spending time with family and friends and attending sporting events for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who she absolutely adored. She is survived by her five beloved children, Warren “Bill” Blowers of Johnstown, Michael Blowers of North Bush, Stephen “Sparky” Blowers of Gloversville, Mary (Paul) Chizek of Broadalbin and Terry “T-Bone” (Jennifer) Blowers of Caroga Lake; Seven Grandchildren, Liz Laird, Jake Blowers, Kayla Chizek, Owen (Krystina) Chizek, Allie Miller, Sadie Blowers and Tavien Blowers; three great grandchildren, Carlye Clifford, Kinley Chizek and Easton Chizek; sisters ,Toni Sawmiller and Connie (Joseph) Conte; brother, Santos Pisani, all from Syracuse along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Dottie was predeceased by her husband Warren W. Blowers whom she married October 18, 1958; Daughter-in-Law, Margaret (Robin) Blowers; Brother’s John and Joseph Pisani; Sister’s Vicky (Phil) Rizzo and Rosalie Pisani; along with a Brother-in Law Robert Sawmiller. Special thanks to Schenectady Cardiology, Hospice, family, and lifelong friends for all the care they gave over the last few months. The family will be eternally grateful. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday September 15, 2021, at 2:00 PM at the Holy Trinity Church, 205 Glebe Street, Johnstown, NY. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service at the church from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown at a later date.
