Elizabeth Mary Pinaha, age 98, of Johnstown, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 18, 2022, at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. Born on May 22, 1923, in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert F. and Marion (Avery) Dailey, and stepmother Ruth Dailey. She was raised by Harry and Bertha Shires, her grandparents, from the age of five. She had one sister Kathleen Dailey Cellery and one brother Robert F. Dailey Jr. All predeceased her. Elizabeth graduated from Johnstown High School in 1941 and was married to her beloved husband, Thomas C. Pinaha, on February 7, 1942, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church during a blizzard, until his passing on April 18, 1997. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Ireland Brothers Gloves, Hussman Corporation, and retired from Ruby & Quiri. She was a gifted artist enjoying oil painting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, and reading. Her first art exhibition was in May 2018, at the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts, Blue Mountain Lake, NY. She loved all animals. Elizabeth was particularly proud and dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made it a special point to always be present to share in their personal achievements. Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Sharon Pinaha (Stephen Kemmer) of Gloversville, NY and Nancy Paro (Doug) of Leland, NC; grandchildren Christine Pouch (Alan), Thomas J. D’Amore (Brett), R. Aaron Hill (Dawn) and Danielle Bonificio (Joe); and her great grandchildren Taylor Hill, Bowin and Lukus Bonificio, Cora and Claire D’Amore; and four nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 12:30 PM at the Holy Trinity Church, 205 Glebe St, Johnstown. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, Inc., 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown, from 4 to 7PM. A spring burial will take place at the Ephratah Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to Pineview Commons Activity Department, Johnstown Public Library, or an animal shelter of your choice. The family especially wishes to thank the entire staff at Pineview Commons for their special care and friendship to Elizabeth where she resided since 2019.
