Harry G. Witzke Jr.

Harry G. Witzke Jr., 93, lifelong resident of Johnstown, passed away Saturday June 1, 2019 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. He was the son of the late Harry G. and Lillian Abrams Witzke Sr. Mr. Witzke proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Harry was employed as an oil burner installer and repairman for the Shepard Oil Company until his retirement. Mr. Witzke was a member of the Johnstown Reformed Church. He also liked to fly small planes and traveling, and was a former member of the Lazy 8 Radio Control Airplane Club. On October 12, 1946 he was united in marriage to Joyce Reynolds Witzke until she passed in 1975. Survivors include two daughters Leigh Yerdon and Helen Frederick; two sisters Anne Mosseau and Jeanne Brooks; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service for friends and family will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday June 11, 2019 at the Johnstown Reformed Church, 351 N. Perry St. Johnstown. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
