Joseph S. Simone

Joseph S. Simone, age 78, of Johnstown, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 at his residence. Joseph was born on November 22, 1941 in Gloversville, a son of the late Steven Simone and Clara LaRowe. Joseph, who was known by all as “Joe”, was a graduate of Johnstown High School. Joe honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Joe was the Lead Dyer for many years at Lee Dye. After Joe’s retirement he enjoyed serving as a Crossing Guard for the Johnstown School District, where he took his role of providing the utmost safety to the children and families of Glebe St Elementary School. Joe was of the Catholic faith and an Usher at the Holy Trinity Parish. Joe also took great pride in being a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 104, where he provided guidance to several of the young men to earn their Eagle Scout rank, including his Grandson Zachary. Joe is survived by two sons, Paul (Patty) Simone of Louisville, Kentucky and their children Josh (Whitney), Mathew and Brenna, Scott (Kathy) Simone of Sparta, Tennessee and their 2 sons Zachary and Michael, and a Daughter Christina (Bryan) Novak of Amsterdam and Christina’s 2 daughters Kelsey and Kayla. Joe was also expecting his first Great Grandchild and is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe was pre-deceased by his brother and best friend Steve Simone. Per Joe’s wishes there will be no formal funeral services. Family and friends can stop by Joe’s home, at 306 Pennsylvania Ave in Johnstown, on Thursday 9/24/2020 between 4pm and 6pm to share condolences to his children.
