Marjorie L. Jones Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Marjorie L. Jones, age 60, of Gloversville, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Mountain Valley Hospice after a long courageous battle with colon cancer. Born on November 28, 1961, in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Carolyn (Zemkin) Jones. Marjorie graduated from the Heritage Christian Academy in 1980 and then received a bachelor’s degree at Liberty University in elementary education in 1985. Marge was employed for 20+ years at Nathan Littauer Hospital as the third shift switchboard operator. In her spare time, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading, and cats. Marjorie and her sister Shirley were known as the “Crafty Sisters”. She is survived by her sister and caregiver, Shirley Jones and sisters, Floras (Gene) Schoonmaker and Linda Dopp; brothers, Kenneth Jones, Leonard (Mary) Jones, Robert Jones, Joseph Sweet, Steven Sweet, Jim Vincent, Tom Vincent; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Marjorie is also survived by her three cats, Tiger Lily, Rascal, and Mittens. In addition to her parents, Marjorie is predeceased by her brother, William Vincent; sister, Patricia Kerns, and beloved cats, Mischief and Starr. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, 325 South Comrie Avenue, Johnstown, with Reverend Pastor Robert Walter officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service at the church from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marjorie’s memory can be made to the Brennan Humane Society.
