Born on July 15, 1926, in Johnstown, NY, she was the daughter to the late Josephine and Thomas Lizio. Nina was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Emanuel T. Santos in 2007, her siblings Samuel Lizzio, Vincent Lizio, Thomas Lizio, Joseph Lizio, and Grace Santos. She was a graduate of the class of 1944 Johnstown High School and the 1945 class of The Gloversville Business School. Nina began an adventurous journey on September 8, 1946, when she married her husband and was steadfastly at his side supporting his U.S. Air Force Military career. This took her throughout the country and to Bermuda but always returning to spend the summers at Caroga Lake with her family, mother, and her sister’s family. A day never passed at Caroga Lake without some member of the extended family stopping in to eat or stay for a weekend or two and she never complained and always made them feel comfortable and welcome. She leaves behind her 3 children, Katherine Sullivan (Richard), JoAnn Cecere (Danny), Samuel Santos (Sharon); grandchildren, William Sullivan (Jennifer Davidson), Christopher Cecere (Megan), Keith Cecere (Lori), Erik Cecere (Ashley), Michael Hooper (Robbie), Clinton Walker (LaShon), Sebastian Santos, AvaGrace Santos; as well 12 great-grandchildren. Nina was the glue that held her family together, supported her family in their various ventures always smiling and with a positive attitude. She valued education and hard work and instilled that ethic in her children and grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed sports, was an avid NY Yankees fan, and loved dancing and bowling. She and her husband volunteered many years at the Immaculate Conception Church by assisting with various activities. Many will remember her smiling face and welcoming attitude at the bingo hall. The family wishes to express their overwhelming gratitude to the staff at Pineview Commons and especially to Kara Vollner for her sincere and unwavering devotion over the past 5 years. Also, to Sue Isabella, former Social Worker at Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home for her guidance and kindness throughout her rehabilitation. The graciousness of all involved with her care at the Mountain Valley Hospice House will always be appreciated and remembered. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Church, 205 Glebe St, Johnstown, NY 12095. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
