Shirley A. Pettengill Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Shirley Ann Pettengill, age 72, of Gloversville, NY, passed away on Thursday July 7, 2022, at her home with her loving family by her side. Born on October 12, 1949, in Johnstown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Marilyn (Taylor) Lair. Shirley was an Assistant Manager at Liberty for many years. In her spare time, she loved gardening, being outside, feeding the birds, the casino, and fishing with her husband. Most importantly, Shirley loved to spend time with her family. She was always planning to pick her grandchildren up or bringing them something special. She spent every day with her best fur friends Peanut and Indy. She married her husband, Harold A. Pettengill on January 9, 1972. They were happily married for 35 years until his passing on October 23, 2007. She is survived by her children, Tina Mergel (Paul), Harold Pettengill (Amanda), Tye Pettengill (Siobhan), Niki Olmstead (Howie), Louis Pettengill (Vanessa); grandchildren, Paul, Zechariah, Kaela, Ashley, Riley, Tyler, Joel, Cameron, Brianna, Kelcie, Gavin, Giada, Austin, Connor, Taina, Jaleah, Jorgie; great grandchildren, Alivia, and Asher; as well as many other special family members. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley is predeceased by her brother, Richard Lair and sister, Bernadette Conroy. In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A celebration of life will be held on August 7,2022. Details will be shared by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley’s memory may be made to the ALS Foundation of Northeastern New York, Mountain Valley Hospice or Make A Wish.
